Dubai, UAE – His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, chaired a high-level coordination meeting at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) headquarters in Dubai. The session gathered senior executives from global shipping lines and maritime associations to address pressing regional supply chain challenges.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Abdulla bin Damithan, Chairman of PCFC, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, and key leaders from the logistics and maritime sectors.
Strengthening Trade Continuity
Dr. Thani reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to safeguarding trade flows and enhancing supply chain resilience. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with partners and implementing forward-looking solutions to address regional challenges, ensure uninterrupted movement of goods, and reinforce the UAE’s status as a trusted global trade hub.
“The UAE will continue to support regional and international trade stability through adaptive policies and targeted initiatives that improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability,” he stated.
Public-Private Collaboration
H.E. Bin Damithan emphasized the value of continued coordination between public and private stakeholders. He noted progress in enhancing supply chain resilience, including improving alternative trade corridors such as Fujairah and Khorfakkan ports, and strengthening maritime connectivity for seamless cargo movement.
“The achievements reflect strong public-private synergy and the need for joint efforts to tackle rising operational costs and complexities,” he added.
Customs Initiatives to Facilitate Trade
H.E. Dr. Busenad outlined Dubai Customs’ proactive measures to improve operational efficiency. Key initiatives include:
- Issuance of Customs Notice No. (6), enabling transit cargo through the green corridor with Oman.
- Acceptance of undertaking letters as valid guarantees.
- Workshops for traders on green corridor mechanisms.
Ongoing projects include activating the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system, launching a maritime feeder service to India, expanding the green corridor to Saudi Arabia, and offering multiple clearance options within secure corridors.
Future-Ready Supply Chains
The meeting reviewed progress since the last session, including better handling of critical shipments, activation of alternative transport corridors, and expanded use of multimodal transport solutions such as land and rail. These initiatives aim to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure resilient supply chains across the region.
