Govardhan Pooja, celebrated a day after Diwali, is one of the most symbolic Hindu festivals devoted to Lord Krishna and Govardhan Hill. After the rain stopped, they prepared 7 days × 8 meals = 56 dishes as a token of gratitude — hence the name Chappan Bhog.
