Mubadala Investment Company has announced a major minority investment in Power Factors, a leading renewable energy management software provider. The investment is being made alongside existing investor Vista Equity Partners.
The deal aims to support Power Factors’ global growth, innovation, and expansion in the fast-growing renewable energy sector.
Power Factors is known for its Unity platform, which helps renewable energy companies manage and monitor their wind, solar, and energy storage assets through one integrated system. The platform offers services including monitoring, analytics, technical asset management, and commercial asset management.
The company currently supports 70 percent of the world’s top 50 renewable energy producers. Its platform serves more than 600 customers across 18,000 sites in over 70 countries and manages around 310 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity.
Abdulla Mohamed Shadid, Head of Energy and Sustainability, Private Equity at Mubadala, said the investment reflects Mubadala’s long-term commitment to renewable energy. He noted that as renewable energy portfolios continue to grow globally, advanced software solutions and intelligent monitoring systems are becoming essential for improving performance and increasing operational efficiency.
He added that Mubadala is pleased to partner with Vista Equity Partners to support Power Factors in strengthening its position as a leading renewable energy management platform.
The investment will also help Power Factors continue developing its AI-powered Renewable Energy Management Intelligence system, known as REMI. The technology uses artificial intelligence to help operators better understand and manage operational data across renewable energy projects.
The new funding will further support the company’s energy storage monitoring and control technologies, helping improve the development of battery storage systems and hybrid renewable energy projects that support electricity grids.
Julieann Esper Rainville, CEO of Power Factors, said renewable energy portfolios are becoming larger and more complex, increasing the need for intelligent and unified management platforms. She said the investment will help the company accelerate its mission to build the world’s leading AI-driven renewable energy management solutions.
Patrick Severson, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of the Foundation Fund at Vista Equity Partners, said Power Factors has become an important platform for renewable energy operators worldwide. He added that Mubadala’s experience in technology and infrastructure investments will support the company’s next phase of innovation and global expansion.
The renewable energy industry is growing rapidly worldwide as countries increase investments in clean energy and energy storage systems. With renewable energy projects becoming larger and more integrated, software-based management platforms are playing a key role in improving performance, reducing operational costs, and supporting modern energy systems.
