The Awqaf Abu Dhabi (Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority) has contributed AED100 million to the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative. The contribution highlights the authority’s commitment to using endowment (waqf) funds to promote sustainable growth, social wellbeing and economic resilience in the UAE.
The initiative was launched by Awqaf Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. It reflects the UAE’s strong tradition of generosity and community support. The initiative is inspired by the legacy of the country’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who made humanitarian work and sustainable giving a key part of national development.
His Excellency Abdul Hamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, said the initiative represents the UAE’s vision of endowment as a tool for sustainable development and social solidarity. He explained that it follows international best practices to ensure long-term social impact and provide a supportive environment where orphans can grow and succeed.
His Excellency Fahad Abdul Qader Al Qassim, Director General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, said the sustainable endowment model will help ensure that orphans have access to quality education and healthcare. He added that the initiative strengthens the UAE’s humanitarian record and supports the leadership’s vision of making giving a lasting force for social unity and development.
Awqaf Abu Dhabi continues to launch projects aligned with national priorities. Its Life Endowment campaign, introduced during the Year of Community, raised nearly AED1 billion. The Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative, launched during the Year of Family, has also received strong support from individuals, institutions and private sector companies across the UAE, reflecting its humanitarian importance nationwide.
