Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan reviewed key infrastructure, transport and logistics projects during separate meetings with delegations from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group and Etihad Rail in the Al Ain Region.
During the meeting with Abu Dhabi Airports, led by CEO Ahmed Juma Al Shamisi, Sheikh Hazza reviewed development projects and activation plans for the free zone at Al Ain International Airport. Discussions focused on strengthening integrated logistics solutions and improving connectivity between air and rail transport to support the airport’s role as a major logistics and transport hub.
The meeting also covered strategic expansion plans to improve passenger movement and upgrade airport facilities and services in line with Al Ain Region’s growing economic and tourism sectors.
Sheikh Hazza also met a delegation from AD Ports Group, led by Managing Director and Group CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi. The delegation presented updates on projects being implemented by AD Ports Group and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi in Al Ain Region.
The projects aim to strengthen Al Ain as an integrated industrial and economic hub. Discussions also included future developments designed to support the food, agritech, packaging and logistics sectors, while helping attract investment and improve the region’s competitiveness.
In a separate meeting, Sheikh Hazza received a delegation from Etihad Rail led by CEO Shadi Malak. He was briefed on the latest progress of the UAE-Oman railway link project, especially in Al Ain Region, which is considered a key location along the railway route.
Officials said the railway project, developed by Hafeet Rail — a joint venture between Etihad Rail, Oman Rail and Mubadala Investment Company — is currently 40 percent complete.
The briefing also highlighted future passenger and freight rail plans in Al Ain Region and their role in supporting economic growth and enhancing the UAE’s transport and logistics network.
Sheikh Hazza stressed the importance of developing infrastructure and transport projects through a future-focused strategy that strengthens Al Ain Region’s competitiveness and supports sustainable economic development. He said these projects will further position the UAE as a global hub for trade, logistics and advanced transport solutions.
He also praised the efforts of national teams and officials working on strategic projects that support development goals and improve the quality of life in Al Ain Region.
The meetings were attended by Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several officials from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group and Etihad Rail.
