Indonesia has made a significant leap in its military enhancement with the official addition of new defense aircraft, including six Rafale fighter jets from France, during a ceremony in Jakarta.
President Prabowo Subianto graced the handover event held at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Monday, showcasing advanced military aircraft recently acquired for the Indonesian Air Force.
The delivery comprises six Rafale jets, four Dassault Falcon 8X aircraft, and an Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft, marking a pivotal point in Indonesia’s comprehensive military modernization initiative.
In 2022, Indonesia signed a landmark $8.1 billion deal with France, when Prabowo was the defense minister, securing a total of 42 Rafale jets for enhancing the air force's capabilities.
Following the ceremony, President Prabowo stated that Indonesia aims to bolster its defense capabilities amid rising global geopolitical tensions and regional security issues.
He clarified that the nation's objective is to preserve stability and enhance deterrent capabilities to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Prabowo reiterated that Indonesia harbors no aggressive ambitions but seeks to fortify its national security through a robust and modern military framework.
Experts assert that incorporating cutting-edge aircraft like the Rafale jets will significantly bolster Indonesia's air defense and operational efficiency in the Indo-Pacific theater.
