A large mass wedding was held in central Gaza on April 24, where 300 couples got married in a major community event supported by the United Arab Emirates under its humanitarian operation “Gallant Knight 3.”
The ceremony was organized under the “Joy Dress 2” programme, which aims to help young people overcome financial challenges and support them in starting married life.
Around 20,000 people attended the event, including families, community leaders, and representatives of local and international organisations. The gathering was described as one of the largest mass weddings held in Gaza.
Couples were selected from thousands of applicants who registered in February. Organisers said the selection process focused on people who had not been married before and met specific financial and eligibility requirements.
In addition to the wedding ceremony, the initiative also provided financial and in-kind support to help couples set up their new households, covering essential wedding expenses and basic needs.
The event included Quran recitations, official marriage announcements, and traditional Palestinian performances such as the dabke dance. UAE and Palestinian national anthems were also played, creating a festive atmosphere.
Officials said the initiative reflects ongoing humanitarian support for Gaza under “Gallant Knight 3,” which has been delivering aid since the conflict began in October 2023. This was the second mass wedding organised under the programme.
Participants described the occasion as a moment of hope and relief, especially for couples who had faced displacement, injury, or financial difficulties before marriage.
