Emirates has signed a new agreement with GE Aerospace to strengthen its aircraft engine repair and maintenance capabilities in Dubai. The partnership focuses on developing advanced piece part component repair services for GE90 and GP7200 engines.
The agreement was signed at the Emirates Group Headquarters by Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, and Mohamed Ali, President and CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace.
The collaboration will support the expansion of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), a major US$300 million investment aimed at increasing the airline’s maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities for aircraft engines.
Under the agreement, GE Aerospace will provide technical consultancy and specialised training to Emirates Engineering teams. The company will assist in setting up a dedicated piece part component repair line and help transfer technical knowledge, industry standards and best practices to the EEMC workforce.
Adel Al Redha said the agreement marks an important step in enhancing Emirates’ engine repair operations and building world-class maintenance capabilities in Dubai. He added that the partnership will help train employees with specialised skills required for repairing GE90 and GP7200 engines, which power Emirates’ Boeing 777 aircraft and part of its Airbus A380 fleet.
He also said the expansion of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre will further strengthen Emirates Engineering’s position as a leading centre for aircraft engine repairs and improve engine service efficiency for the airline’s growing fleet.
Mohamed Ali said Emirates is an important customer and long-term partner for GE Aerospace. He added that the agreement reflects GE Aerospace’s commitment to supporting airline customers throughout the life cycle of their engines while also contributing to the long-term growth of the UAE’s aviation sector.
Emirates Engineering currently provides engineering, line maintenance and base maintenance support for more than 270 aircraft, including Boeing 777, Airbus A380 and Airbus A350 planes, from its advanced facilities in Dubai.
The Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre, established in 2014, continues to provide repair and maintenance services for engines used across the Emirates fleet.
