Dubai:
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Health Board of Directors, has officially launched ‘The Cancer Fund’ under Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health.
The launch took place at a special ceremony held at Dubai Hospital, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Health Board of Directors.
Along with the fund, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed also unveiled ‘The Giving Wall’ at Dubai Hospital. The wall displays the names of donors who have supported the hospital’s treatment programmes, recognising their contributions.
Purpose of The Cancer Fund
The Cancer Fund has been created to provide critical support for cancer treatment costs, helping reduce the financial burden on patients. The fund aims to ensure patients can continue their care throughout treatment and recovery.

Leaders’ Statements
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed said that giving is a deeply rooted value in the UAE, inspired by the Founding Fathers. He added that the country’s leadership continues this legacy through initiatives that focus on people’s health and wellbeing.
He also praised individuals and organisations who contribute to such programmes, saying their support reflects a strong national commitment to improving lives and supporting patients.
Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg described the Cancer Fund as a strategic step toward building a sustainable support system for cancer patients. She added that the initiative represents a strong model of collaboration between community donors and institutions to strengthen healthcare services.
Ramadan 2026 Campaign
Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, announced that the foundation’s Ramadan 2026 campaign will be dedicated to The Cancer Fund. He said this will expand support for cancer patients and help them access timely treatment in line with Dubai Health’s ‘Patient First’ promise.
Support Provided in the Past Year
Dr. Al Zarooni also revealed that donor support helped provide care to 650 cancer patients over the past year. Contributions exceeded AED 43 million through the ‘A’awen’ programme.
Al Jalila Foundation has encouraged individuals and organisations to support the Ramadan 2026 campaign through its official donation channels, stressing that every contribution can make a meaningful difference for cancer patients and their families.
