Libya is all set to welcome an exceptional equestrian event as it hosts, for the first time, the sixteenth round of the prestigious President of the UAE Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses. The event, part of the 32nd global edition, will take place tomorrow at the Al-Watan Shooting and Equestrian Club racetrack in Benghazi.
Bringing together 96 elite horses from across Libya, the competition will unfold across six exciting races, coinciding with the Second Libya Heritage Carnival. This marks a significant moment for Libya’s equestrian community, showcasing its readiness to join the global stage of heritage sports.
The UAE President’s Cup Series stands as one of the most respected global events dedicated to Purebred Arabian horses, symbolizing endurance, grace, and cultural pride. The UAE’s consistent efforts to support breeders and owners worldwide have made the series a vital platform for promoting the Arabian horse’s global legacy.
The Libya round holds particular importance as it’s the first time the prestigious Cup has arrived on Libyan soil — a milestone that highlights the UAE’s commitment to cultural exchange and its deep-rooted bond with Libya through a shared admiration for Arabian horses.
The highlight of the day will be the sixth and final race — The UAE President's Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses — to be run over a 2000-metre sand track, offering total prize money of AED 1 million. Horses aged four years and above from some of Libya’s finest studs will compete for the coveted title, promising an atmosphere of excitement and pride among participants and spectators alike.
The event not only celebrates equestrian excellence but also reinforces the heritage of Arabian horse racing — a sport that continues to unite nations through shared tradition, passion, and respect for these magnificent animals.
