In a significant enforcement operation, Sohar authorities have seized a substantial amount of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, targeting illicit storage and sales.
The crackdown emanated from the Compliance and Risk Assessment Department, which monitored suspicious activities involving two vehicles and a residential site belonging to a local citizen.
During the inspection, officials uncovered a considerable stock of alcohol intended for illegal distribution. This haul comprised hundreds of bottles and various chewing tobacco products, all discovered within vehicles and at a property associated with the accused.
Authorities emphasized that this operation forms part of their relentless efforts to prevent unauthorized trade, thereby safeguarding public safety. The confiscation of 743 bottles underscores the magnitude of illegal operations currently under scrutiny.
Following the operation, legal actions have commenced against the involved individual in alignment with Oman’s laws on controlled substances. Investigations into the origins of the supply are also expected to proceed.
Officials affirmed their commitment to intensifying enforcement measures to avert similar violations in the future, ensuring adherence to established regulations.
