The Singaporean authorities have taken a firm stance, urging parents and caregivers to stop using self-feeding baby pillows immediately. This warning comes from the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO), which emphasizes the serious risks of choking and suffocation to infants associated with these products.

Officials have stated that infants do not possess the necessary physical control or awareness to safely handle feeding without supervision. They are unable to manage milk flow, recognize when they should pause, or react appropriately in case of choking or gagging. This poses a remarkable danger of life-threatening situations.

Additionally, authorities pointed out that these pillow designs may inadvertently cause suffocation if the infant shifts positions, along with leading to other health issues such as lung and ear infections arising from improper feeding posture.

This warning reiterates similar alerts from nations like the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, where child safety organizations have expressed concern regarding bottle-propping devices. Pediatric experts worldwide consistently recommend that infants must be fed only under direct adult supervision.

Caregivers are strongly cautioned against propping bottles with pillows, blankets, or other support items marketed as safe. Instead, infants should be held or positioned semi-upright during feedings, ensuring constant monitoring.

This advisory highlights the growing global vigilance surrounding infant care products, stressing that safety should never be sacrificed for convenience.
