Oman has made a striking mark on the international stage by securing four prestigious medals at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, underscoring its burgeoning prowess in the fields of scientific exploration, innovation, and high-tech development.
With representation from the Research and Innovation Authority, the Sultanate proudly earned three gold medals alongside one silver at this esteemed exhibition. The event saw over 1,000 inventive projects from 17 different countries, establishing itself as one of the preeminent showcases for innovation worldwide.
Among the gold medalists, Nahya Nasser Al Hamdani was recognized for her creation of smart glasses equipped with a mobile app tailored to assist the blind and visually impaired. This pioneering innovation enables users to safely navigate their environment, enhancing individual mobility through sophisticated digital support systems.
Luqman Sulaiman Al Dhafri received his gold medal for the groundbreaking project “Drone-Air Lens,” employing drones that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to perform swift and precise automated aircraft inspections. His project also garnered a special accolade for the best invention of the exhibition.
Zaher Salim Al Alawi was awarded the third gold for his innovative biotherapeutic platform aimed at expediting healing for chronic and diabetic wounds. This system utilizes advanced medical delivery technologies to bolster patient recovery and enhance healthcare efficacy.
Additionally, Balqees Salim Al Hikmani achieved a silver medal for her development of a smart medical system that effectively regulates potassium levels in heart patients, recognized for its potential to significantly improve cardiac treatment and monitoring in contemporary healthcare environments.
Omani officials hailed this achievement as a testament to the nation’s advancements in research and development. They emphasized their commitment to nurturing young innovators who can devise solutions aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which showcases Omani talent’s growing global competitiveness in technology and innovative science.
