Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, 23 December 2025 – Jebel Jais, the UAE’s top mountain destination, has temporarily closed all operations to carry out thorough safety inspections and maintenance after severe weather conditions affected the region between 17–19 December.
Recent heavy rainfall has caused standing water in some areas and created slippery paths and shifting rocks, making safety a priority. To ensure all visitors enjoy a safe and secure experience, a temporary road closure and essential maintenance work are in place while specialist teams inspect every area carefully.
The closure affects all activities on Jebel Jais, including:
- Jais Flight Zipline
- 1484 by Puro (restaurant)
- Red Rock BBQ
- Via Ferrata climbing routes
- Bear Grylls Explorers Camp
- Yoga sessions at Jais Viewing Deck Park
Visitors are strongly advised not to camp in the wadis during this period and to take extra care while hiking or climbing, especially in areas with standing water. While hiking and climbing zones are not fully closed, teams are assessing conditions, and some routes may be temporarily restricted for safety.
Reopening will follow a phased approach, with each area carefully assessed and enhanced to meet Jebel Jais’ highest safety standards. This decision comes during the winter peak season to ensure visitor wellbeing remains the top priority. Guests are encouraged to follow official Jebel Jais channels for updates on reopening and maintenance progress.
Donald Bremner, CEO of Marjan Lifestyle, said:
"At Jebel Jais, responsible tourism means putting people, nature, and safety first. Taking a cautious, phased approach ensures that visitors enjoy safe and authentic mountain experiences for years to come."
Once maintenance is complete, visitors can look forward to enjoying the remainder of the 2025/2026 season, with all activities and experiences fully operational in the stunning mountains of Jebel Jais.
