Amna Hassan Al Shamsi, Director of Financial Policies and Government Accounting Standards at the Ministry of Finance, has been appointed to the Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board. She will serve for three years, with the possibility of continuing for up to nine years. Her appointment is the first time the UAE has an official representative on this important international group, which supports the development of global accounting standards and promotes strong financial governance across public sectors worldwide.
This achievement highlights the trust the international community has in Emirati talent and reflects the UAE’s progress in shaping modern public financial management. Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, said her selection is a new milestone for the country and reinforces the UAE’s commitment to adopting the highest international practices in government financial work.
He explained that the appointment supports the goals of the We the UAE 2031 Vision and strengthens the country’s focus on transparent and sustainable financial policies. He also noted that Al Shamsi’s role on the council showcases the increasing influence of Emirati women in global financial leadership and highlights the nation’s dedication to empowering skilled professionals.
The CAG is an essential advisory body to the IPSASB and includes experts from global organisations, financial institutions, and government bodies. It provides strategic advice to help develop IPSAS standards, which guide how governments worldwide manage and report public finances.
