What is a Cloudburst?
A cloudburst is when a large amount of rain falls in a very short time, often in just a few minutes. It usually happens in hilly or mountain areas. This rain is so strong that it causes flash floods, landslides, and other dangers.
In this case, the cloudburst in Uttarkashi caused rivers to overflow quickly, leading to a disaster for people living nearby.

Rescue work is still going on. Soldiers, disaster teams, and local volunteers are all helping. The search for missing people continues. Food, water, and medical help are being sent to villages that were affected.
People are being asked not to go near rivers or damaged roads. The weather office says more rain is expected, so everyone needs to be very careful.
