The Ministry of Labour in Thailand has successfully launched an extensive employment initiative in Surin Province to enhance job prospects and strengthen workforce capabilities in the region. The event titled “JOB FAIR @ Surin: Great Jobs in My Hometown” displayed over 5,000 job openings from more than 50 prominent companies spanning various sectors.

Chulaphan Amornvivat inaugurated the fair at Lumpini Grand Hall in Surin, attended by key officials from the Ministry of Labour, local government entities, and educational institutions. This initiative seeks to forge connections between employers and aspiring job seekers, especially young graduates.

The Labour Ministry stated that the fair aims to create employment avenues for everyone, including recent graduates, those currently unemployed, career switchers, and marginalized communities. They underscored Surin’s developing economic potential in agriculture, tourism, services, and food processing, which are anticipated to generate fresh job opportunities soon.

Minister Chulaphan noted that Thailand's job market is swiftly transforming due to the digital economy. He pointed out that contemporary industries seek individuals skilled in technology, language, and professional expertise rather than just conventional labor skills. Thus, there's a growing emphasis on up-skilling and re-skilling initiatives to better equip workers for future job demands.

During the two-day fair, a plethora of career development activities were available, including practical training for 25 independent professions, virtual reality learning experiences, overseas job consultations, and educational open-house sessions from 11 institutions. Organizers aim to motivate the youth while guiding them toward contemporary career options and entrepreneurial ventures.

Visitors had the chance to explore exhibitions showcasing innovative careers, directly engage with employers for interviews, and receive invaluable career advice from labour officials. The event also highlighted OTOP products, local community businesses, and government-supported affordable items to bolster grassroots economic growth.

Officials pointed out that the fair serves as a crucial platform to lower job search expenses and enhance employment opportunities for residents outside major urban areas. They believe that such measures can contribute to strengthening local economies while alleviating migration pressures on larger cities.

The Labour Ministry confirmed that this initiative forms part of broader national efforts aimed at enhancing quality employment, boosting workforce competitiveness, and fostering sustainable economic development in Thailand's regional areas.
