In a meeting led by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) approved a series of new decisions aimed at improving the efficiency of government services and enhancing the emirate’s transport system. The meeting took place at the Ruler’s Office on Tuesday, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, both Deputy Rulers of Sharjah and Deputy Chairmen of the Council.
The Council discussed several ideas to ensure government departments continue delivering the highest level of public services, focusing on clarity, fairness, and efficiency across key sectors.

Among the major decisions, the SEC introduced updated regulations for vehicle impoundment in Sharjah. The new rules are designed to make the process more transparent and equitable, setting specific fees that improve service quality and ensure compliance with traffic laws. These measures aim to protect public rights while maintaining order on the roads.
A new provision allows vehicle owners or legal representatives to request a replacement vehicle or recover their impounded vehicle earlier by paying a daily fee. The regulation also specifies how these fees will be calculated based on the reason for impoundment.
In addition, the Council announced revised towing fees for vehicles that have broken down or been involved in accidents. The goal is to make vehicle removal faster and more efficient, using modern technology to improve road safety and prevent congestion caused by stranded cars.
To further strengthen the public transportation system, the Executive Council approved a new agreement with taxi companies operating in the emirate. The agreement aims to unify operational standards, enhance passenger comfort, and promote safer, more reliable services. It also encourages private sector involvement in developing a sustainable and modern transport network that meets the needs of residents and visitors alike.
Through these decisions, Sharjah continues to advance its commitment to efficient governance and a transport system that prioritises safety, accessibility, and community satisfaction.
