Dubai, UAE – December 24, 2025: Hotpack, a UAE-based global company known for sustainable packaging solutions, organised a mangrove plantation drive at Al Zora Mangrove Reserve in Ajman. The activity was carried out to support environmental protection and promote sustainability in the UAE.
The initiative was organised in collaboration with Companies for Good, a Dubai-based social enterprise that helps companies run meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. The plantation drive was held under Hotpack Happiness, the company’s employee engagement programme that focuses on teamwork, wellbeing, and positive social impact.
Employees from different Hotpack offices across the UAE came together to take part in this environmental activity. The event showed how teamwork and responsibility can help protect nature and create a better future for the next generation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdul Jebbar, Group CEO and Managing Director of Hotpack, said that sustainability is an important part of the company’s values. He explained that the mangrove plantation drive supports the UAE’s long-term vision for environmental protection, a vision started by the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
He also shared that the initiative aligns with the commitment announced by Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Head of the International Affairs Office at the Presidential Court of the UAE, during the COP26 Climate Change Conference in the UK in 2021, where the UAE pledged to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030.
Mr. Zainudeen PB, Group COO and Executive Director of Hotpack, said the company plans to make mangrove plantation an annual CSR activity. He added that employees feel proud to be part of an initiative that goes beyond daily work and contributes to the protection of the environment. According to him, such activities help build a strong sense of responsibility and unity among employees.
Mr. Anwar PB, Group CTO and Executive Director of Hotpack, explained that the plantation drive was both educational and inspiring. Before starting, all volunteers received safety instructions and protective equipment. Employees travelled by kayaks and dragon boats to reach the planting areas inside the mangrove reserve.
Participants planted mangrove saplings in muddy and waterlogged areas, learning first-hand about the challenging conditions in which mangroves grow. This experience helped employees understand the importance of mangroves and the effort needed to protect them.
Mangroves play a very important role in protecting the environment. They absorb carbon dioxide, reduce the effects of climate change, protect coastlines from erosion, and support marine life. In the UAE, mangroves cover more than 150 square kilometres along the coast and act as a natural green shield for cities such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ajman. Each fully grown mangrove tree can absorb around 12.3 kilograms of carbon dioxide every year.
This plantation drive marks the first phase of Hotpack’s long-term environmental efforts. Through such initiatives, Hotpack continues to turn its sustainability promises into real action, while giving back to the community and protecting the natural environment of the UAE.
