Abu Dhabi, UAE – November 4, 2025: The UAE National Orchestra has officially commenced rehearsals in Abu Dhabi, marking a landmark moment in the nation’s cultural journey. Bringing together both Emirati and international musicians, the Orchestra aims to craft a sound that reflects the UAE’s identity, diversity, and forward-looking spirit.
Established under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and led by Chairperson Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE National Orchestra is envisioned as a national institution that is inclusive, accessible, and inspiring. Its mission is to honor the UAE’s rich musical heritage, foster community connection, and inspire a new generation of musicians and audiences.
The Orchestra embodies the UAE’s dedication to advancing its cultural and creative sectors and nurturing artistic talent. Aligned with the Forward Society pillar of “We the UAE 2031,” it seeks to promote national unity, pride, and shared cultural identity. Through high-caliber performances, collaborations, and outreach initiatives, the Orchestra will amplify the UAE’s cultural presence locally and internationally.
Following an extensive nationwide and international audition process that attracted more than 3,200 applicants, 250 live auditions were conducted, culminating in the selection of 70 full-time musicians and 30 part-time choir members. This ensemble blends Emirati talent with world-class performers from across the globe, exemplifying the UAE’s spirit of openness and collaboration.
The inaugural season will feature performances across all seven Emirates, a historic first for the country, bringing orchestral music to audiences nationwide. Each concert will showcase the Orchestra’s mission to make music a unifying cultural experience that celebrates creativity, community, and national pride.
Sheikha Alia Bint Khalid Al Qassimi, Managing Director of the UAE National Orchestra, commented, “The UAE National Orchestra reflects who we are as a nation—proud of our heritage, open to the world, and united by creativity and collaboration. As rehearsals commence, we witness the first notes of a cultural story that will inspire pride and connect communities across the Emirates.”
Under the artistic direction of Amine Kouider, the Orchestra will merge Arabic and Western musical traditions, creating a sound that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in heritage. Kouider added, “An orchestra unites musicians and audiences through a shared language of music. We are already feeling the energy and connection among our musicians, each bringing unique stories, styles, and emotions. This Orchestra will celebrate the diversity and richness of the UAE through every note.”
In the coming months, the UAE National Orchestra will continue preparing for its inaugural season while planning collaborations with renowned artists and institutions. Each performance will serve as an ambassador for the UAE, sharing its cultural narrative with audiences around the world.
