As schools in Dubai prepare to reopen their doors for the new 2025–2026 academic year, Dubai Police has announced a large-scale and carefully designed security plan under its “School Security” initiative. This initiative aims to welcome students, teachers, administrators, and parents with strong measures to ensure safety, discipline, and a smooth start to the school year.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, attended by senior Dubai Police officials, education leaders, and school principals. The plan includes patrols, drones, mounted police, community programmes, and even student ambassadors – all working together to create a secure and friendly learning environment.
A Safer Start To The School Year
Dubai Police revealed that 250 security and traffic patrols will be deployed around school zones across the emirate. These patrols are responsible for controlling traffic, guiding vehicles near schools, and ensuring that students arrive safely without the risk of accidents.

To support this, the force will also use nine drones to monitor traffic flow and vital locations, especially during peak hours when parents drop off and pick up their children. This will help reduce congestion and improve emergency response times.
Adding to this strong presence are six luxury patrol cars, four mounted police units on horses, and 60 bicycles, allowing police officers to cover both large roads and narrow streets around schools effectively. The presence of mounted units and cycle patrols also helps officers interact closely with children and parents in a friendly and approachable way.
Children As Safety Leaders
One of the most important features of this year’s plan is the “Safety Ambassadors” programme. About 300 students have been selected to become part of this initiative, where they will represent their schools as young leaders promoting awareness, discipline, and safe habits among their classmates.
These Safety Ambassadors will be trained by Dubai Police to encourage their peers to follow road safety rules, respect school regulations, and develop a sense of responsibility. This step highlights how the police are not only enforcing rules but also empowering children to be active partners in keeping their schools secure.
Awareness And Education Activities
The plan also includes 28 awareness programmes designed in collaboration with 15 partner organisations. These programmes aim to educate students, parents, and school staff about security, safety, and positive behaviour.
In addition, more than 750 senior officers and police personnel will directly interact with students. They will visit schools, speak in classrooms, and lead interactive workshops to make children more aware of their responsibilities and rights.
Leaders Supporting The Initiative
Several top officials were present at the press conference. Among them were Brigadier Nasser Al Zarri, Acting Director of Dubai Police Academy, Dr Brigadier Abdulrahman Al Maamari, Secretary-General of Hemaya Council, Lieutenant Colonel Dr Ali Al Matroushi, Director of Child and Women Protection at the General Department of Human Rights, Captain Majid bin Saaed Al Kaabi, Head of the “School Security” initiative, and Fatima Buhjair, Chairwoman of the Positive Spirit Council.
They were joined by principals of various schools across Dubai, showing the strong partnership between the police and educational institutions.
Building A Positive And Safe Environment
Speaking at the event, Dr Brigadier Al Maamari stressed that Dubai Police, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, is deeply committed to creating a safer, healthier, and more interactive learning environment.
He explained that field teams will visit 71 schools, including Hemaya schools, to meet students and parents directly. The goal is to raise awareness about both security and community cooperation.
Dr Al Maamari also highlighted the work of the Hemaya Council, which manages several important initiatives such as:
-
The Hemaya International Centre
-
The Positive Spirit Council
-
The School Security initiative
-
The Safety Ambassadors programme
-
The Naseej initiative
All these programmes work together to connect the community with security efforts, build awareness, and strengthen values of discipline and responsibility among young people.
Appreciation For Teamwork
Dr Al Maamari praised the combined efforts of both government and private organisations. He emphasised that ensuring the safety of students requires teamwork and cooperation, and this year’s plan reflects the shared commitment of different entities to protect children and support schools.
Strengthening Trust Between Police And Families
Captain Majid bin Saaed Al Kaabi, Head of the initiative, explained that the purpose of “School Security” goes beyond just controlling traffic or patrolling streets. The initiative is also about building trust between students, parents, and the police.
By working closely with teachers, administrative staff, and parents, the police hope to address new behaviours, prevent problems, and create an open channel of communication. Through lectures, awareness activities, and personal interaction, Dubai Police aims to show that officers are partners and friends of students, not just authority figures.
Fun And Interactive Activities For Students
To make the initiative more engaging for children, Dubai Police has also planned 18 events alongside the awareness sessions. These activities include:
-
Road safety guidance sessions
-
Encouraging students to use pedestrian crossings only at safe points
-
Introducing children to Dubai Police’s services and helplines
-
Entertainment activities featuring the police mascot “Mansour”
-
Distribution of gifts and school supplies
These efforts aim to make students feel comfortable, motivated, and excited about returning to school while also teaching them important safety lessons.
A Shared Responsibility
Captain Al Kaabi concluded his remarks with a powerful message: “The safety of our children is a shared responsibility.” He pointed out that schools, families, and police must work together as one team. While the police provide security and guidance, parents and teachers must reinforce safe practices at home and in school.
A Positive Step For Students And Families
The School Security initiative shows how Dubai Police is combining advanced technology, strong security presence, community involvement, and child-focused programmes to prepare for the new academic year. With patrols, drones, awareness campaigns, student ambassadors, and entertainment activities, the plan not only ensures safety but also builds trust and positivity among children and families.
As thousands of students across Dubai return to classrooms, this initiative stands as a symbol of cooperation between police, schools, and parents – all united to create a secure, inspiring, and successful school year for the future generation.
