Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired the first 2026 meeting of the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award for People of Determination Inclusion – Damj, reviewing key outcomes and evaluation standards set by the jury committee.
The meeting focused on assessing the criteria used across all award categories to measure institutional impact. Several senior officials attended, including Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri, Sana Mohammed Suhail, Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Victor Santiago Pineda, and Layla Al Hyas.
During the session, members reviewed detailed evaluation stages to ensure fairness, accuracy, and transparency. The board highlighted the award’s role in encouraging institutions to adopt inclusive practices that support People of Determination and improve their quality of life.
The jury committee also presented final evaluation results, showing increasing commitment from organisations to implement inclusive policies and services. These efforts aim to empower individuals and promote active participation in society.
Sheikh Khalid stressed that inclusion remains a key priority under the UAE leadership’s vision. He noted that Abu Dhabi continues to work towards building a society based on equal opportunities and full community participation.
He further explained that the Damj Award acts as a strategic tool to promote long-term inclusion by setting clear standards and encouraging continuous improvement in institutional practices.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of measuring real impact, ensuring that inclusion efforts lead to meaningful and sustainable outcomes. The award aligns with the UAE’s Year of Family, reinforcing the role of inclusion in supporting strong and stable families.
Officials also discussed expanding participation from public, private, and third-sector organisations, along with raising awareness about the award and its goals.
The board praised the high level of participation and innovation shown by institutions, noting that the award has created healthy competition and helped share best practices.
The winners of the Damj Award 2026 will be announced at a ceremony later this year.
