The 15th General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) wrapped up in Jeddah after five dynamic days hosted by Saudi Arabia's General Court of Audit (GCA). Delegates from 22 Arab nations, along with regional and global experts, engaged in pivotal discussions. A series of important agreements were made aimed at reinforcing governance, enhancing operational efficiency, and advancing audit institutions in member countries. Notably, Saudi Arabia was re-elected to chair the Governing Board, which extends its role in hosting ARABOSAI meetings until 2028. These initiatives are anticipated to elevate the quality of audit functions and their positive impacts throughout the region.
The assembly also incorporated the 69th and 70th Governing Board meetings, where progress on ARABOSAI’s strategic objectives was reviewed. Committees presented their findings, which spurred vital decisions regarding forthcoming projects and activities. Concurrently, a technical symposium was conducted to highlight best practices in capacity building and share insightful experiences from various Arab audit bodies. Discussions centered on enhancing training frameworks, sharpening professional skills, and ensuring robust performance in national auditing.
A key moment during the event was marked by the Peer Review Report presentation by GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari to the Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts. This report evaluated the chamber’s adherence to international audit standards, underlining efforts towards transparency and superior audit practices. Furthermore, 20 auditors graduated from the Certified Arab Auditor Fellowship Program, a pivotal initiative by the GCA to cultivate skilled professionals in auditing.
As the meetings concluded, members engaged in discussions about bolstering collaboration among Arab Supreme Audit Institutions and enhancing expertise exchange. There was a united emphasis on translating recommendations into actionable strategies that enhance governance, transparency, and institutional effectiveness across the Arab landscape. With renewed dedication from member states, ARABOSAI seeks to elevate auditing standards and optimize oversight capabilities in the years ahead.
