Abu Dhabi: AD Ports Group has reinforced the resilience of local and regional supply chains across the Gulf by leveraging its diversified logistics network, ensuring uninterrupted trade flows amid recent regional challenges.
Since late February, the group has maintained normal operations by swiftly establishing alternative trade routes and rerouting cargo across land, rail, sea, and air. These proactive measures have helped mitigate disruptions affecting Arabian Gulf ports, particularly due to traffic conditions in the Strait of Hormuz.
To date, AD Ports Group has handled more than 54,000 TEUs at Fujairah Terminals and Khor Fakkan Port. Additionally, over 22,000 containers have been transported through land logistics, while 18,000 TEUs have moved via its maritime network. The operations are supported by a fleet of 24 vessels running eight feeder services. The group has also transported over 8,000 tonnes of cargo through air logistics, facilitated by more than 100 chartered flights.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, emphasized that the company’s long-term investments in logistics infrastructure have enabled one of the UAE’s largest logistics redeployments. He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to ensuring the continuous flow of essential goods, including food, medicines, and strategic supplies, while maintaining high safety standards for its workforce.
To support uninterrupted shipping services to Khalifa Port and key regional trade corridors, AD Ports Group launched new feeder shipping services connecting the UAE’s eastern ports with ports in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea. The company also expanded its vessel fleet and plans to further increase capacity.
Feeder operations by SAFEEN Feeders and Global Feeder Shipping have been rerouted through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, offering alternative gateways to the UAE and wider GCC region. New services now connect ports in India, Pakistan, Oman, and the Upper Gulf.
The group has also established an air bridge using three chartered aircraft to transport critical cargo, with plans to expand capacity further. On land, a dedicated logistics corridor using 800 trucks and daily Etihad Rail services ensures smooth cargo movement between Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Khalifa Port, Jebel Ali, and Sharjah.
Supporting these efforts, AD Ports Group has expanded its warehousing capacity beyond 76,000 square metres, with plans to more than double it to 188,000 square metres.
Through its advanced digital trade platforms, the group has enhanced real-time visibility and efficiency in managing trade flows. These systems enable optimized cargo routing and the reuse of empty containers, reducing costs and improving supply chain performance.
Working in coordination with UAE authorities and industry partners, AD Ports Group continues to deliver reliable logistics services while strengthening supply chain resilience across the region.
