On May 5, 2026, an essential inspection meeting was chaired by Pham Thi Thanh Tra with the Standing Committee of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee. The conference aimed to assess the execution of directives from the central government and to prepare for the upcoming phases of inspections mandated by the Politburo and the Communist Party's Secretariat.
This significant meeting convened high-ranking officials from various ministries, inspection bodies, and provincial departments. Featured attendees included Provincial Party Secretary Duong Quoc Huy and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh, alongside other members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee. They reviewed achievements under national development guidelines while establishing focus areas for the next supervisory phase.
According to the inspection team, the forthcoming 2026 inspection phase will center on four pivotal aspects: enhancing the effectiveness of local governance, achieving over 10 percent economic growth, executing Resolution 57 regarding scientific, technological, and digital advancements, and assessing the performance and quality of Party organizations and leadership across all levels.
Pham Thi Thanh Tra commended the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee for diligently adhering to the directives from central leadership. She specifically emphasized their success in advancing the Resolution from the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the smooth conduct of recent elections, noting that Lao Cai achieved a near 100 percent voter turnout, one of the highest in the nation.
During the discussions, the Deputy Prime Minister underlined three pivotal “political missions” that local authorities are urged to undertake with commitment. These include realizing double-digit economic growth, fostering advancements in science and technology, and enhancing the effectiveness of two-tier local government operations. She remarked that these goals must be recognized as national imperatives requiring strong political resolve.
The Deputy Prime Minister also advocated for a transformative shift in both development and management strategies. She urged Lao Cai province to shed the “poor province mindset” and to embrace its strategic advantages, given its proximity to international border crossings, which positions it well for regional trade and logistics.
Officials further highlighted the importance of modernizing governance by prioritizing citizens and businesses within public services. Local governments are encouraged to adopt contemporary management techniques rather than solely relying on traditional practices. The province is expected to enhance tourism, logistics, agricultural processing, and industrial growth, while exploring opportunities within the green, digital, and circular economies.
Digital transformation and attraction of investments also featured prominently in the discussions during the assembly. Government representatives stressed that Lao Cai must enhance its infrastructure, draw private investment, and fortify collaborations with foreign investors. Public investments are anticipated to spearhead economic expansion and support long-term strategic development across the region.
Concluding the meeting, Duong Quoc Huy, Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Party, expressed the province's full commitment to implementing the inspections’ recommendations and taking immediate corrective actions. He reaffirmed the authorities’ dedication to elevating governance standards and ensuring effective adherence to national policies in pursuit of economic growth.
