H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, met with Jonathan Powell, the United Kingdom’s National Security Adviser, in London to discuss regional developments and security concerns following Iran’s attacks on civilian sites in the UAE.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the impact of Iran’s missile and drone attacks targeting civilian facilities in the UAE. Jonathan Powell expressed the United Kingdom’s solidarity with the UAE and strongly condemned what he described as unprovoked terrorist attacks by Iran.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah thanked the UK for its supportive position towards the UAE and confirmed that all residents and visitors in the country remain safe.
The discussions also focused on the wider impact of the attacks on international shipping routes, global energy supplies, and the world economy. The UAE and UK officials stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation to protect maritime corridors and ensure the smooth flow of global trade.
Both sides also discussed ways to enhance regional and international cooperation to support security, peace, and stability across the region.
The meeting further covered several issues related to the strong strategic partnership between the UAE and the United Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State; Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State; and Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
