Sharjah is in mourning following the passing of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the emirate’s ruling family. The announcement came through an official statement from the Office of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, confirming that Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 (30 Rabi Al Awwal 1447 AH).
On Tuesday morning, September 23, funeral prayers will take place at 10am at King Faisal Mosque, one of Sharjah’s most prominent landmarks. After the prayers, the late Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid will be laid to rest at Al Jubail Cemetery.

Condolences will be received at the majlis of Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, located in the Al Ramla district of Sharjah, beginning Tuesday and continuing for three days.
As a mark of respect, the Government of Sharjah has declared a three-day mourning period starting Tuesday. During this time, official flags will be flown at half-mast across the emirate.
The passing of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalid has drawn heartfelt sympathy across Sharjah and the wider UAE, as the royal family and community members come together to remember his life and legacy.
