Strengthening Government Operations
During the meeting, the Council extensively discussed measures to regulate and supervise government departments and agencies in Sharjah. These discussions included reviewing current operational processes and identifying areas where improvements could enhance the delivery of services to residents and visitors alike. The Council also examined several key development plans with the goal of improving service quality across the emirate, ensuring that government operations are both effective and responsive to the needs of the public.
Following the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Council introduced a comprehensive plan to enhance the operational efficiency of government agencies. This plan is designed to empower branch managers and staff by giving them more authority to make decisions, helping them work more effectively and efficiently. By providing staff with more responsibility and decision-making power, the Council aims to ensure that citizens receive timely and high-quality services, ultimately increasing overall satisfaction among residents.
Developing Staff Skills and Training Programs
A significant part of the new plan focuses on the development of government staff through extensive training programs. These programs are designed to improve the skills of branch managers and employees in various agencies across Sharjah. Workshops and training sessions will provide staff with the knowledge and tools needed to serve the public better.
The Council also emphasized the importance of tailoring services to meet the unique needs of different communities within Sharjah. By offering a wide variety of services in every city, the government aims to ensure that residents can access essential services conveniently and efficiently. This initiative not only improves the quality of government work but also strengthens the relationship between the government and the community.
Updating Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management
Another key decision made by the Council was the update of a previous 2011 resolution concerning the management of emergencies, crises, and disasters in Sharjah. The new resolution establishes a restructured Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team led by the Chief of Sharjah Police. The team will also include senior members from critical local and federal government agencies, particularly those holding positions equivalent to a Director General.
The purpose of this new structure is to improve Sharjah’s readiness for various emergencies by creating a unified system of procedures and plans. Practice drills and coordinated responses will ensure that government agencies can handle challenges effectively and efficiently. By implementing a cohesive approach to emergency management, Sharjah aims to protect residents and maintain order during times of crisis.
Enhancing Road Safety in Sharjah
Road safety was another important topic discussed during the meeting. The Council reviewed a detailed report on the seizure of illegal and unlicensed motorcycles, bicycles, and electric bikes across the emirate. Since the beginning of 2025 up to August, authorities have seized a total of 19,102 vehicles as part of an ongoing campaign to improve safety on Sharjah’s roads.
These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of residents and all road users. By removing unsafe and unlicensed vehicles from the streets, the authorities aim to reduce accidents and make travel safer for everyone. This initiative also supports broader traffic management strategies and highlights the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
Feedback from Sharjah International Airport Authority
The Council also examined feedback provided by the Sharjah International Airport Authority regarding suggestions from the Sharjah Consultative Council. These suggestions are aimed at improving the policies and procedures of the airport authority. The Executive Council highlighted the importance of considering these recommendations, as they can enhance the quality of services provided by the airport, support its ongoing growth, and better meet the needs of the community.
By adopting these recommendations, Sharjah International Airport can continue to improve its operations, provide a more efficient travel experience for passengers, and contribute positively to the overall development of the emirate.
Focus on Quality and Resident Satisfaction
Throughout the meeting, the Council emphasized its focus on improving the quality of services and ensuring that residents’ needs are met promptly and effectively. Whether through staff training, better operational planning, emergency preparedness, or road safety initiatives, the Executive Council aims to create a government system that is both responsive and efficient.
The overall goal is to increase resident satisfaction and ensure that government agencies work in harmony to provide the best possible services. By streamlining processes, empowering staff, and implementing innovative solutions, Sharjah is taking significant steps toward becoming a more modern, efficient, and service-oriented emirate.
The recent meeting of the Sharjah Executive Council reflects the leadership’s commitment to continuous improvement in government operations and public services. From enhancing staff efficiency and emergency preparedness to improving road safety and airport operations, the Council is taking comprehensive measures to ensure that the needs of Sharjah’s residents and visitors are met in an organized, efficient, and timely manner.
With the support and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, these initiatives are expected to strengthen the emirate’s government system, boost service quality, and improve overall satisfaction among the people of Sharjah.
