The Thai government is ramping up its efforts against corruption by fostering deeper partnerships between public organizations and the private sector, aiming to enhance transparency and governance across the nation.
On May 20, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul convened a pivotal meeting at Government House in Bangkok to discuss the role of public-private collaboration in combating corruption. This gathering included various officials, business leaders, and members of the Zero Corruption Working Group network.
During the session, the Prime Minister endorsed a six-point anti-corruption initiative presented by private sector representatives. He urged all relevant agencies to bolster their internal mechanisms, enhance data transparency, and deepen coordination with anti-corruption entities. Anutin commended businesses for highlighting corruption as a formidable barrier to economic and administrative progress.
Key proposals discussed encompassed the establishment of sustained anti-corruption awareness, refining governance policies within both governmental and business domains, bettering corruption risk management systems, and facilitating access to transparent public information. Additionally, there was strong advocacy for leveraging Big Data and AI technology to unveil suspicious activities and facilitate real-time oversight.
The Prime Minister stressed the necessity for all government agencies to rigorously monitor their operations at every level to guarantee accountability and compliance with legal standards. He also instructed departments to embrace advanced digital solutions to enhance public services, minimize delays, and promote transparency in administrative functions.
Furthermore, the Thai administration is advancing its “Open Government” initiative by integrating information systems for verification and public access to government data. Officials assert that this strategy will curtail arbitrary decision-making and bolster the public's trust in governmental institutions.
Business leaders at the meeting expressed their appreciation for the government's initiative to facilitate open dialogues and acknowledged the administration’s prompt responses to feedback and recommendations.
