These proposed changes intend to refine regulations in accordance with government goals such as administrative restructuring, decentralization, and the advent of digital innovation. According to the existing regulations, architects operating independently or in leadership roles must possess a valid architectural practice license. The suggested amendments will maintain this requirement while broadening the focus to encompass professional capabilities and conditions.

The Ministry has proposed updating the criteria to ensure that those responsible for architectural design and planning hold requisite qualifications and expertise. This includes professionals engaged in building design, urban planning, and landscape architecture.

The draft further presents two alternatives for the authority responsible for issuing and regulating architectural practice licenses. One retains the current provincial authority system, while the other permits professional organizations to collaborate with provincial agencies in this vital task.

A significant component of the proposal involves enhancing the oversight of information concerning architects and architectural firms. The government plans to establish a centralized database encompassing all licensed professionals and firms operating within the sector.

This database will be integrated into a national information system, ensuring improved oversight and transparency. Each architect will receive a unique identifier, facilitating the monitoring of professional qualifications and activities.
