An invigorating eco-tourism event unfolded over two days at the Amu Darya State Nature Reserve in Turkmenistan, uniting young individuals to foster environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
The initiative, led by the “Young Naturekeeper” organization, was made possible by support from the United Nations Development Programme along with the Global Environment Facility, centering on the conservation and sustainable management of ecosystems in the Aral Sea region.
The core goal of this initiative was to bolster ecological literacy among the youth and to instill a responsible mindset towards nature. Participants had the chance to explore the reserve, learning about its unique ecological characteristics.
Guided by experts, attendees traversed coastal forest areas, becoming acquainted with rare bird species and the rich wildlife of the reserve. This firsthand experience significantly enhanced their appreciation for biodiversity and the principles of environmental conservation.
Additionally, the program focused on practical educational aspects, showcasing contemporary methods of nature protection while promoting eco-friendly lifestyles, including sustainable eating habits.
Bahargul Kuliyeva, a volunteer and participant, expressed that the eco-tour provided her with a deeper understanding of nature conservation and motivated her to pursue environmental preservation.
As the event concluded, certificates of appreciation were awarded to active participants, acknowledging their engagement and dedication to environmental awareness.
The organizers articulated that such programs are crucial in cultivating an ecological culture among young people, encouraging their involvement in future conservation initiatives aimed at safeguarding natural resources and ecosystems.
