The United Malays National Organisation (Umno) is preparing to evaluate applications from previous members wishing to return under its “Rumah Bangsa” initiative.
This crucial decision will be made during the party’s supreme council gathering in Melaka, where the initial applications will be scrutinized for potential approval.
Ahmad Maslan, a senior party figure, has voiced optimism regarding the acceptance of these applications, underscoring ongoing efforts to mend ties with former members and bolster party unity.
The Rumah Bangsa initiative seeks to reintegrate individuals who were expelled or suspended while also attracting new members, particularly from younger demographics.
Officials have indicated that the rejoining process is open and straightforward, requiring only a basic application with identification details for administrative tracking.
This initiative is timed with Umno’s anniversary celebrations, and it represents a broader strategy to cement support and revitalize its political foundation.
Additionally, notable former leaders like Hishammuddin Hussein and Khairy Jamaluddin have shown interest in rejoining the party.
This move illustrates the changing landscape of Malaysia’s political realm, as parties strive for internal unity and gear up for forthcoming electoral challenges.
