Pop star Britney Spears finds herself at the center of a fresh controversy after her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, made a series of serious claims in his new memoir You Thought You Knew. Federline alleges that Spears engaged in harmful behaviour toward their sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, during their childhood.
According to Federline, Spears once struck Preston and showed favoritism toward Jayden in their early years. He also claims that the pop star sometimes neglected Jayden’s severe allergies, recalling an incident in Louisiana when Jayden was hospitalized after ingesting pills—though Federline admits he is unsure of their origin.
The memoir further highlights Federline’s concern over Spears’ household environment, citing episodes such as the boys returning from visits with bleached hair that caused chemical burns. He writes that both sons, as teenagers, were hesitant to visit their mother and even started recording incidents on their phones, including disagreements over social media outfits.

One particularly alarming claim involves Spears reportedly telling Preston she wished harm on the family, which Federline describes as leaving lasting trauma. He expresses fear that these incidents may have long-term emotional consequences for the boys.
Spears has publicly refuted the claims, calling them misleading and part of a profit-driven narrative surrounding Federline’s book. Through social media and her spokesperson, she emphasised her focus on her children’s well-being and criticised Federline’s approach. Spears shared that the memoir’s accusations reminded her of struggles with her own parents during her conservatorship, underlining that her priority remains her personal healing.
Currently, Spears is dedicating time to her recovery and calm routines, including tending to her greenhouse, as she seeks stability amidst the ongoing media storm.
