Dubai: Bollywood spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has made its OTT debut on Netflix after a successful theatrical release in December 2025. However, instead of celebration, the film’s streaming release has triggered strong criticism from fans due to alleged censorship.
The movie features an ensemble cast including R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. Set around a high-risk Intelligence Bureau mission, Dhurandhar received an ‘A’ certificate for adult audiences, raising expectations that the OTT version would be released without cuts.
Soon after its release on Netflix in India, viewers reported that several scenes and dialogues were edited or muted. Some fans claimed that nearly ten minutes of footage appeared to be trimmed, while certain abusive words were censored.
Interestingly, Dhurandhar was not released in the UAE or GCC countries and is unavailable on local streaming platforms, making Indian viewers the main audience for the OTT version.
Fans took to social media to express disappointment. Many questioned why an adult-rated film was censored on a platform meant for mature viewers. Some users accused Netflix of ruining the film’s raw tone and creative integrity by editing key scenes.
As of now, Netflix has not released any official statement explaining the censorship or confirming whether an uncut version will be restored.
The controversy highlights growing expectations from OTT platforms, where viewers expect full creative freedom and uncensored content, especially for adult-rated films.
