Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The cryptocurrency markets have remained relatively stable throughout the holiday season, with the total market capitalization lingering around the $3 trillion threshold, according to recent data analysis by eToro.
Bitcoin, which dominates the crypto space by representing nearly two-thirds of the total market value, continues to trade within a tight range, oscillating between a support level of $85,000 and resistance at $90,000. Investors and traders are eagerly awaiting a significant market catalyst to trigger a decisive price movement.
Simon Peters, Crypto Market Analyst at eToro, commented on the current market dynamics: “During the festive period, the crypto markets have shown muted activity, with bitcoin maintaining a range-bound trading pattern. The market appears to be in a holding pattern, waiting for a strong catalyst to push prices upward.” He added, “This week, there is limited major economic data scheduled to drive market action, although the release of the Federal Reserve’s latest meeting minutes on Tuesday could offer valuable insights into future interest rate decisions, which may impact crypto sentiment.”
Despite bitcoin’s remarkable surge to an all-time high earlier this year, the overall crypto market has encountered a series of challenges in maintaining that momentum. “It has been a tough year for cryptoassets,” Peters noted. “Although bitcoin reached a record peak, it has since retraced those gains and currently trades below its opening price for the year.”
Looking ahead to 2026, Peters expressed cautious optimism about the crypto market’s prospects. “There are multiple reasons to be hopeful as we enter the new year. We anticipate easing global financial conditions, further regulatory advancements, potential approvals of spot ETFs, and growing adoption by publicly listed companies integrating digital assets into their treasuries.
