A man notorious for causing disturbances at celebrity events was forcibly removed from a Lady Gaga concert in Brisbane prior to its commencement.
Johnson Wen, 26, took to Instagram to share that he was “kicked out” of Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday evening. This comes after Wen previously grabbed pop sensation Ariana Grande at the Asian premiere of Wicked: For Good in Singapore, earning a reputation for disrupting concerts.
Just last month, Wen received a nine-day prison sentence from a Singapore court for his actions involving Grande, which also led to a ban from entering the country. Although he assured the judge he would “not repeat his actions,” his pattern of public disturbances alarmed staff at the Brisbane venue.
Footage from the concert depicted Wen being escorted out by security personnel, met with a mix of cheers and jeers from the audience. Suncorp Stadium stated that Wen was deemed a potential threat due to his prior conduct and was barred from entry to protect the artist.
Wen's record includes jumping on stage and disturbing performances by high-profile artists like Katy Perry and The Weeknd. Singaporean officials had critiqued him for seeking the spotlight, jeopardizing public safety in the process.
The situation with Grande sparked significant outrage in Singapore, where fans accused Wen of “re-traumatizing” the singer, who has publicly discussed her PTSD following the tragic 2017 Manchester concert bombing.
