Oppo Find N5 launched, claims to be world's thinnest foldable phone

Oppo has launched its new foldable phone, the Oppo Find N5, and says it is the thinnest foldable phone in the world. When the phone is closed, it is 8.93mm thick, which is even thinner than the Honor Magic V3, the slimmest foldable phone of 2024. It is only a little thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro, which is 8.3mm. When opened, the thinnest part of the phone is just 4.21mm. But phone companies always measure the thickness when the phone is folded. If measured when open, the new Huawei Mate XT, which folds three times, would be thinner at 3.6mm.

The Oppo Find N5 was launched worldwide and will be sold in different countries in Europe and Asia. But Oppo has never sold its Find N series in India, so it is not clear if this model will come to India. There is some hope this year because OnePlus has said it will not launch its Open 2 phone, which is similar to the Find N series. The Find N5 was launched in Singapore for SGD 2,499, which is about ₹1,62,000.

The phone has a 6.62-inch Full HD+ screen on the inside and an 8.12-inch 2K screen on the outside. Both screens use AMOLED technology, have a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2160Hz PWM dimming to protect the eyes. The phone also supports a stylus, so users can write or draw on the screen. The Find N5 has an IPX6, X8, and X9 rating, which means it is safe from water splashes and submersion but not from dust. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the power button, and the alert slider is on the left side.

The Oppo Find N5 runs on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The battery is 5,600mAh and supports 80W fast charging with a cable and 50W wireless charging.

For photos and videos, the Oppo Find N5 has three cameras on the back, made with Hasselblad. The main camera is a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700 sensor. There is also an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope camera that can zoom 6 times optically and 30 times digitally. The phone has two selfie cameras—one on the inside screen and one on the outside—both with 8 megapixels.

The Oppo Find N5 runs on Android 15 with Oppo’s ColorOS software. It comes in three colors: Misty White, Cosmic Black, and Dusky Purple (only in China). Pre-orders started on February 21, and sales will begin on February 28 in select countries. Even though the Oppo Find N5 is the thinnest foldable phone, it is not clear if it will be available in India.
